Admission to the Louisiana State University graduate chemistry program is a two-step process:
- Admission is determined on the basis of the student's undergraduate record.
- Admission to the Departmental program is based on the student's scholastic record, prior research experiences, GRE scores, and letters of recommendation provided by people who are familiar with the student's scientific abilities.
For admission in the fall semester, the application process generally begins in the fall of the previous year when the student contacts the Department for information about the program and requests application forms.
Students are advised to complete the application process as early as possible since assistantships and fellowships are awarded on a competitive, on-going basis.
Though very uncommon, admission may be possible the spring semester or summer session.
